    Grandma Bogey Old Fashioned Pound Cake

    List of Ingredients




    2 cups of butter
    3 1/2 cups of sugar
    10 eggs
    4 cups of flour
    1 teaspoon of vanilla
    Lemon glaze

    In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Gradually add flour, blend well. Pour batter into a greased 10inch tube pan. Bake in a preheated 300ºF. oven for 2 hours or until a wooden toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool in a pan for 10 minutes before turning out onto a wire rack to cool completely. Drizzle the Lemon Glaze over the top.

    Lemon Glaze

    3/4 cup of water
    1 cup of sugar
    1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
    1/4 cup of fresh lemon juice
    1/4 teaspoon of ground allspice
    dash of ground cloves

    Simmer together all of the ingredients, covered, for about 15 minutes. When the cake is done, remove it from the oven, turn the oven off, pour the glaze over the hot cake. Return the cake with glaze to the oven for about 10 minutes.
