    1 cup sugar
    1-1/2 cup milk
    grated rind and juice of 1 lemon
    4 Tablespoons flour
    2 Tablespoons butter
    pinch of salt
    3 eggs, separated

    Recipe



    Cream butter, add sugar, flour, salt, lemon juice, and rind. Fold in beaten egg yolks mixed with milk. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Pour into custard cups. Set pan of hot water and bake in moderate oven for 45 minutes. When done each custard cup will contain lemon custard in bottom and sponge cake on top.
