Orange Cake With Chocolate Frosting

List of Ingredients
3/4 cup sweet butter
1-1/2 cups sugar
Grated rind one orange
3 eggs
3 cups sifted cake flour
3-1/2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. salt
1/2 cup orange juice
2 Tbsp. lemon juice
1 Tbsp. dark rum
1/2 cup water
Frosting: (DOUBLE RECIPE)
1/2 cup sugar
2 Tbsp. cornstarch
2 ounces chocolate
pinch of salt
3 Tbsp. butter
1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
Recipe
Prepare three 8-inch layer cake pans by buttering them and dusting flour.
Cream butter with sugar until light and fluffy. Add orange rind and then eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Sift flour, baking powder and salt together, and add this a little at a time, alternating with mixed liquids.
Pour into pans. Bake at 375º for 30 minutes.
Cool in pans 10 minutes. When cold, put layers together. .
Frosting
Mix sugar and cornstarch well. Stir in water and then chocolate and salt. Cook over low heat, stirring until mixture is smooth and thick. Add butter and vanilla, stir. Spread on cake while frosting is still warm.
