    1/2 cup sweet butter
    1 cup brown sugar, packed
    1 egg, beaten lightly
    1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. cloves
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. allspice
    1/4 tsp. baking soda
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 cup chopped walnuts
    1 cup dates
    1 cup beer

    Recipe



    Cream together first three ingredients.

    Sift dry ingredients together over walnuts and dates. Add to creamed mixture alternately with beer.

    Pour batter into greased loaf pan. Bake at 375º for 60 minutes.

    NO ICING NEEDED.
