Black Dress Pound Cake

List of Ingredients
3 sticks (1-1/2 cups) butter or margarine
2 cups sugar
5 eggs
2-1/2 cups flour
1 Tbsp vanilla Recipe
Cream butter and sugar
Alternately add 1 egg & 1/2 cup flour, stirring well after each addition
Stir in vanilla
Bake in greased (not floured) bundt* cake pan at 325 for 1 hour
VARIATIONS:
To dress cake up or down, change batter by adding one or more of the following ingredients:
1 cup chocolate syrup (Hershey's), 1 extra cup of flour & 1 small pkg of chocolate chips
Chopped nuts (toast them first - much better!).
For a marble effect: divide batter in half. Add 1/3 cup cocoa (unsweetened) to one half of batter. Put the plain batter in the pan. Pour chocolate batter on top of plain batter. Swirl slightly with a knife
*If you don't have a bundt pan, use an angel food cake pan.
When serving, dress it up with garnishes such as whipping cream, strawberries or other fresh fruit. Or serve it plain, dust with powdered sugar before you slice it
