Butterscotch Chewy Cake

1-1/2 cups sifted flour
2-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
4 medium eggs
2 cups firmly packed brown sugar (1 16-ounce box)
1 tablespoon butter or margarine
1-1/2 cups chopped pecans
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Recipe
Preheat oven to 350-degrees. Sift and then measure 1-1/2 cups flour. Sift again with baking powder. Set aside.
In top of double boiler, beat eggs, add brown sugar and butter. Place in top of double boiler over boiling water. Heat until blended, stirring constantly, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and add flour mixture a little at a time. Blend well. Add pecans and vanilla.
Pour into greased and floured 13x9x2-inch baking pan. Bake 25 to 30 minutes. Do not overcook.
Note: This chewy cake resembles a light colored brownie in appearance and is glossy on top.
