Chop Suey Cake w/ Cream Cheese Frosting

2 cups all purpose flour
2 cups sugar
2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 (20 oz) can crushed pineapple with juice
2 eggs
1 cup chopped nuts
(The neighbor's recipe called for 1 tsp baking soda, 1 tsp salt, and 1/2 to 3/4 chopped nuts. After eating the cake, it does seem like a 'nut cake' more than a pineapple cake, so next time I'll cut back on the nuts.)
Frosting
1 (8 oz) package softened cream cheese
1 stick (1/2 cup) butter or margarine (room temperature
1 tsp vanilla
2 cups powdered sugar
Combine all ingredients for the cake. Mix until well blended with mixer, adding nuts last. Pour batter into well-greased and floured 9x13x2 inch pan. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 35-45 minutes.
For the frosting, combine the cream cheese, powdered sugar, margarine/butter and vanilla. Beat until smooth. Frost cake after cooling, then refrigerate.
