Recipe Introduction
This is Mama Dip's favorite casserole. She said she started making it for her family as a cheaper alternative to the beef stroganoff she often made as a cook for hire in other people's homes.
List of Ingredients
2 pounds ground beef
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 teaspoon seasoned salt
1/2 cup sour cream
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 pound potatoes, cooked and mashed (see Note)
1 cup grated Cheddar cheese
Recipe
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Cook the ground beef and onion over medium heat until the beef is browned and the onion is soft but not browned. Drain off the fat. Add the seasoned salt, sour cream and Worcestershire sauce, stirring to mix well.
2. Press the beef mixture into a 2-quart casserole dish. Spread the mashed potatoes over the meat, then top with the cheese. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes.
Makes 6 servings.
