    Cranberry Pudding

    Source of Recipe

    Internet

    List of Ingredients

1/2 c sorghum or light molasses
    2 t. soda
    1-1/2 c. flour
    1 t. baking powder
1 c. washed whole fresh cranberries

    Recipe

Gently mix flour, baking powder, and berries in a medium sized bowl.

Put sorghum in 1 cup measuring cup, then add (baking) soda.

Fill cup at once to overflowing with hot water, and then hold it over the mixing bowl and stir soda, water and sorghum together briskly.

It'll start to foam and spill out of the cup. (remember, cooking is fun!)

Now dump the molasses stuff into the cranberry stuff.
Stir it together, carefully, to avoid crushing the berries.
It will look delicious. Taste it if you must, but it's horrible. I didn't forget anything.

Pour into buttered bowl or pan, which can be covered, and steamed - either a double boiler, a bowl covered with foil sitting on a rack of some sort, or a steamer

Steam for at least 2-1/2 hours.

    Serves 6-8.

Cut into wedges, hot or cool, and drench in sauce.

    Cranberry Pudding Sauce
    1 c sugar
    1/2 c butter
    1/2 c whipping cream
1/2 t vanilla, or to taste

Heat sugar, butter and cream in small saucepan.
    Add vanilla just before serving.
Drown pudding, and pass leftover sauce around.
