Pepper-Glazed Pecans

1 cup water
1 cup sugar
1 ½–2 tsp. crushed red pepper
2 cups pecan halves (about 8 oz.)
Recipe
Combine water, sugar, and red pepper in medium saucepan over high heat. Bring to a boil. Add pecans and return to boil. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, for 12 minutes. Drain pecans. Spread nuts in an ungreased shallow baking pan. Bake, uncovered, in a 300° oven for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from oven; spread on buttered foil to cool. Serve as an appetizer or sprinkle over salads. Makes 2 cups.
