    1/2 stick butter
    4 tablespoons sugar
    1 cup self-rising flour
    1/2 stick butter
    2 tablespoons sugar
    1 (14-ounce) can condensed milk
    1/4 cup pecans, chopped
    1/2 teaspoon vanilla
    4 ounces German sweet chocolate, melted in 1 tablespoon water

    Recipe



    Cream 1/2 stick butter with 4 tablespoons sugar. Blend in flour. Spread onto greased 8-inch square pan, and back at 350 degrees 20 minutes. Mix together next 4 ingredients and cook, stirring until mixture leaves the sides of the pan. Add vanilla. Pour over shortbread. Cool. Spread melted chocolate over toffee. Cool. Cut in to squares.

    Makes about 12.
