    Spicy Cranberry Liqueor

    Source of Recipe

    Internet

    List of Ingredients

    4 cups sugar
    2 cups water
24 oz fresh or frozen cranberries
    Zest of 1 orange
    1/2 tsp whole cloves
    1/2 tsp whole allspice
    1 cinnamon stick
6 cups vodka (cheap will do)

In a pot that will hold all ingredients except the vodka, bring sugar & water to a boil, add spices & orange zest. Simmer about 1-2 minutes, add cranberries. When the cranberries have been popping for about 30 seconds, remove from heat, let cool. When cool pour into jug or one gallon jar. Add vodka. Cover jar or jug (plastic wrap if you have no lid). Let this mixture sit in cool dark place for no less than 3 weeks. Strain first through a colander, then through cheesecloth, and bottle it.
You can use the cranberries that are left in some Christmas baking. Might even be good on ice cream. I always double the recipe so I have enough to give for gifts & some for us. It's very good on the rocks or on the rocks with some club soda. When the fresh cranberries come out in the beginning of November is when I make it, and bottle it about a week before Christmas. What I keep for us, I reuse the empty vodka bottles.
