4 cups sifted flour
1-1/2 tsp salt
4 tsp baking soda
2 tsp cinnamon
2 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp ground cloves
1 cup shortening
1-1/2 cups sugar
4 eggs
2-1/2 cups mashed cooked yams
1 cup milk

Recipe



Sift dry ingredients together
Cream shortening, gradually adding sugar. Beat until fluffy
Add eggs, one at a time
Add creamed yam mixture, mixing well
Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with milk
Bake in two 8 inch pans 1 hour and 20 minutes
Cool and frost with frosting of your choice
