Cranberry Orange Torte

2 1/2 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup diced dates
1 cup cranberries
1 cup nuts
1 orange
2 eggs, beaten
1 cup buttermilk
3/4 cup oil
Orange Topping (recipe follows)
Recipe
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a tube or bundt pan.
Mix together flour, sugar, baking powder, and baking soda. Add dates, cranberries, nuts and grated orange rind from 1 orange to the dry mixture.
Add eggs and buttermilk, stirring by hand until well blended. Lastly pour in the oil and mix well. Pour into prepared pan.
Bake at 350 for 1 hour. When cake has been cooled and removed from pan add topping.
ORANGE TOPPING:
1/4 orange juice
1/4 cup sugar
Stir orange juice and sugar together until well combined and pour over cooled cake.
