    Nine-inch pie crust with high edge, baked
    One-half cup sugar
    One-fourth cup flour
    One envelope unflavored gelatin
    One-half teaspoon salt
    One- and three-fourths cups milk
    Three-fourths teaspoon vanilla
    One-fourth teaspoon almond flavoring

    Meringue
    Three egg whites
    One-fourth teaspoon cream of tartar
    One-half cup sugar

    Cream
    One-half cup whipped cream
    One cup moist shredded coconut

    Garnish
    Crushed strawberries or raspberries
    Green maraschino cherries

    Blend sugar, flour, gelatin and salt in a saucepan; gradually stir in milk. Cook over medium heat until mixture boils, stirring constantly, for 1 minute. Place pan in cold water and cool until mixture mounds slightly when dropped from a spoon. Blend in flavorings and set aside. For meringue: Beat egg whites, cream of tartar and sugar. Carefully fold gelatin mixture into meringue. Gently fold in the whipped cream and then the coconut. Pile mixture into the cooled pie shell and sprinkle with a little coconut. Chill several hours until set. Top each slice with a spoonful of crushed strawberries or raspberries and garnish with a green maraschino cherry.
