    1/2 C. shortening
    1 1/2 C. packed brown sugar
    2 eggs
    1 C. sour cream
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 3/4 C. flour
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2/3 C. butterscotch chips
    1 C. pecans

    Burnt Butter Icing:

    1 stick butter
    2 C. powdered sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2-4 T. hot water

    Recipe



    For cookies, thoroughly mix together shortening, sugar and eggs. Stir in sour cream and vanilla.
    In another bowl, mix flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Stir into creamed mixture. Stir in pecans.
    Chill dough at least 1 hour.
    Drop rounded spoonfuls of dough on an ungreased baking sheet.
    Bake in a preheated 400º oven, until delicately brown, just until when touched lightly with a finger almost no imprint remains, about 8-10 minutes.
    For the icing, melt butter until golden brown. Blend in sugar and vanilla. Stir in enough water to make it easy to spread. Ice cookies when they are cool.
    Makes 5 dozen cookies
