    Chocolate Chip Fruit And Nut Bars

    1/2 c. butter or margarine -- softened
    3/4 c. brown sugar (firmly packed)
    1 egg
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1 1/4 c. flour, all-purpose
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. mixed candied fruit
    3/4 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips
    1/2 c. coarsely chopped nuts

    Recipe



    Cream butter, brown sugar, egg and vanilla until smooth
    and well blended. Combine flour, baking soda and salt; blend
    into creamed mixture. Spread evenly in a lightly greased 13 x
    9 x 2-inch baking pan. Bake at 350 degreesfor 12 to 15 minutes or
    until lightly brown. Cool. Prepare filling; spread evenly
    over crust. Sprinkle candied fruits, chocolate chips and
    chopped nuts evenly over filling. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.
    Cool completely. Cut into bars. Makes about 36 bars.

    Filling:
    2 Tbsp. granulated sugar
    2 Tbsp. milk
    1 Tbsp. butter, melted
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1 egg
    1/3 c. unsifted all-purpose flour
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1/4 tsp. salt

    Combine sugar, milk, butter, vanilla and egg in small
    mixer bowl until smooth. Add remaining ingredients, beating
    until well blended.
