Czechoslovakian Apricot Bars

2 cups sugar
2 cups margarine or butter, softened
4 egg yolks
2 teaspoons vanilla
4 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups chopped walnuts
1 (12 ounce) jar apricot preserves Recipe
Heat oven to 350°.
In large mixer bowl combine sugar, margarine, egg yolks and vanilla. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until well mixed (2 to 3 minutes).
At low speed mix in flour and walnuts.
Divide dough in half; press half of dough into 15x10-inch baking pan.
Spread apricot preserves to within 1/2 inch of edge; top with remaining dough.
Bake for 40 to 50 minutes or until golden brown. Cool completely; cut into bars.
