Grandpa Bogey's Chocolate Chip Cookies

List of Ingredients
1/2 cup - shortening
1/2 cup - butter
3/4 cup - brown sugar
1/4 cup - sugar
2 - eggs
1 tablespoon - vanilla
1 teaspoon - salt
1 teaspoon - baking soda
2 1/4 cup - flour
12 ounce - chocolate chips
3.5 ounce - box of instant pudding mix Vanilla
1 cup - walnuts chopped (optional)
Combine flour, salt and baking soda; set aside. Combine shortening, butter, sugars, vanilla and pudding mix in large mixer bowl; beat until smooth and creamy. Beat in eggs; gradually add flour mixture. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts (batter will be stiff). Drop by heaping teaspoonfuls, about 2 inches apart, onto ungreased cookie sheets
Bake at 375 degrees for 9 to 9-1/2 minutes or until browned.
You can make several different types of cookies using this same basic recipe with different flavors of puddings and chips. (For example, try butterscotch chips and butterscotch pudding, or give chocolate pudding and peanut butter chips a try.)
Yields 4 1/2 dozen cookies
