1 cup - shortening
1/2 cup - butter
1 1/3 cup - sugar
1 cup - brown sugar packed
4 - eggs
3 teaspoon - vanilla
1 teaspoon - lemon juice
3 cup - all-purpose flour
1/2 cup - quick oatmeal
2 teaspoon - baking soda
1 1/2 teaspoon - salt
1 teaspoon - cinnamon
24 ounce - semi-sweet chocolate chips Hershey's brand is recommended
2 cup - nuts chopped


In a mixing bowl, cream shortening, butter and sugars until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each. Add vanilla and lemon juice. Combine the dry ingredients; add to creamed mixture and mix well. Stir in chips and nuts.
Drop by 1/4 cupfuls 3 inches apart onto lightly greased baking sheets. Bake at 350 degrees for 14-16 minutes or until lightly browned and center is set. Cool for 2 minutes before removing to wire racks.
