Red Velvet Cream Squares

1st layer:
1 box red velvet cake mix*
1 stick softened butter
1 egg
1 cup chopped pecans, optional
Mix all ingredients well. Spread into a greased 9x13 inch pan.
2nd Layer:
1 pound confectioner's sugar, plus more for dusting the top
2 large eggs
8 oz. softened cream cheese
Beat this until creamy and pour over cake layer. Bake at 350 degrees F for 40-50 minutes. Cool. Sprinkle with additional sugar. Cut into bars.
*This works with other cake mixes such as German Chocolate; Orange Lemon,and Vanilla
