List of Ingredients
12 ounces lean ground beef
8 ounces ground pork
Sauce:
1/2 cup bottled Thousand Island dressing
3 tablespoons finely chopped onion
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon minced fresh garlic
To Finish:
12 (1/2-inch) slices Cuban bread
2 tablespoons melted butter
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
2 tablespoons minced fresh cilantro
1 can (about 12 ounces) potato sticks
Recipe
Mix the ground beef and pork thoroughly. Use a food processor or blender to
puree the Thousand Island dressing with the onion, cumin and garlic. Pour
about half into the meat mixture. Mix thoroughly and shape into 6 patties.
Wrap in plastic and refrigerate at least 2 hours. Refrigerate remaining
sauce.
To serve, grill the patties well. Brush the bread slices with the melted
butter and sprinkle with garlic powder. Grill lightly (or use a sandwich
press if you have one). Place each cooked patty on a slice of grilled bread.
Mix the cilantro into the reserved sauce, spoon over the patties, add a
layer of potato sticks, top with remaining bread slices and serve. Makes 6
servings.
