Butterscotch Apple Crisp

APPLE LAYER:
2-1/2 pounds tart apples (about 6 medium), peeled and thinly sliced
1-2/3 cups (11-oz. pkg.) butterscotch chips
1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
TOPPING:
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) butter or margarine
1 cup chopped nuts
3/4 cup Quaker� Oats (quick or old fashioned, uncooked)
Ice cream or whipped cream (optional)
Recipe
Heat oven to 375F.
For apple layer, arrange apples in 13 x 9-inch metal baking pan. In small bowl, combine chips, sugar, flour and cinnamon; mix well. Sprinkle over apples.
Bake 20 minutes; remove from oven.
For topping, combine flour and sugar in medium bowl. Cut in butter with pastry blender or two knives until crumbly. Stir in nuts and oats; sprinkle over apple layer.
Bake 30 to 40 minutes or until apples are tender and topping is lightly browned. Cool slightly. Serve warm with ice cream.
