Chewy Wheat Germ Brownies

List of Ingredients




2 cups sugar
1-1/4 cups unsifted all-purpose flour
3/4 cup wheat germ
2 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup butter or margarine
4 squares (4 ounces) unsweetened chocolate
3 eggs, well beaten
2 teaspoons vanilla
1/2 cup chopped nuts



Recipe



Combine dry ingredients in large mixing bowl. Stir well to blend. Melt butter and chocolate together over low heat. Cool. Add chocolate mixture, eggs and vanilla to dry ingredients. Mix well. Stir in nuts. Spread in greased 13x9-inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes. Cool on rack. Cut into bars. Sprinkle with powdered sugar or spread with your choice of chocolate frosting if desired.

Makes 3 dozen brownies.
