List of Ingredients
Makes approx. 16-20
1 pkg active dry yeast
1/2 tsp sugar
3/4 cup warm milk
2 cups flour
Dash of salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp nutmeg
4 tbsp sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 cup raisins
1 cup peeled, diced apples
Powdered sugar for dusting
Recipe
1. sprinkle yeast and 1/2 tsp sugar into warm milk; stir to dissolve and let sit for 10 minutes.
2. In medium bowl, combine flour, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and sugar. Make a well in the center and add yeast mixture and eggs; mix only until just blended.
3. Stir in raisins and apples. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
4. Drop by heaping tablespoonsful into hot oil at least 2" deep (or use a deep fryer). Cook until golden brown (approx. 3 minutes). Drain on paper towels and dust heavily or roll in powdered sugar.
These taste just as delicious at room temperature, if any last that long.
