Apricot-Plum Crisp

¾ cup rolled oats
½ cup packed brown sugar
½ cup all-purpose flour
¼ tsp. ground mace or ground nutmeg
¼ cup butter (no substitutes)
1 lb. apricots, pitted and halved (3 cups)
1 lb. plums, pitted and sliced (3 cups)
2 Tbsp. granulated sugar
1 Tbsp. lemon juice
Vanilla ice cream (optional)
Recipe
For topping, in a medium mixing bowl stir together the rolled oats, brown sugar, flour, and mace. Using a pastry blender, cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Set the topping aside.
In a large mixing bowl combine the halved apricots, sliced plums, granulated sugar, and lemon juice, tossing gently until combined. Transfer fruit mixture to an ungreased 2-quart baking dish or pan.
Sprinkle topping over the fruit. Bake in a 375° oven about 1 hour or until filling is bubbly and topping is golden brown. If desired, serve warm with ice cream. Makes 6 servings.
