List of Ingredients
Servings: 24
10 tablespoons butter -- divide
3 teaspoons margarine
4 ounces unsweetened baking chocolate
1 2/3 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 eggs -- divide
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1 cup walnuts; chop -- divide
1 cup cream cheese -- soft
1 1/2 cups confectioner's sugar
Preheat oven to 325F. Grease and flour a (14x12-inch) pan.
Melt 6 tbsp of the butter, margarine and chocolate in microwave or in double boiler, stirring to blend. Allow to cool.
Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Set aside. Beat 2 eggs and vanilla until frothy. Add granulated sugar and beat until thick. Gradually add flour mixture. Stir in chocolate mixture, scraping down sides of bowl. Pour into prepared pan, smoothing with spatula. Sprinkle with one-half cup walnuts.
Beat cream cheese and remaining 4 tbsp butter until fluffy. Add remaining egg and beat. Add confectioner's sugar. Beat until blended. Pour cream cheese mixture over top of brownies, leaving a 1/2-inch border. Sprinkle with remaining half cup walnuts.
Bake for 30-40 minutes until set. Remove and allow to cool completely before cutting into 2-inch squares.
