No-Roll Peach Cobbler

2 cups peeled, sliced peaches
1/2 c. sugar, divided
1/2 c. butter
3/4 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
pinch of salt
3/4 c. milk
Recipe
Mix sliced peaches with the 1 cup sugar and set aside.
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Place butter in 2 quart baking dish. Set in oven to melt butter.
Combine remaining 1/2 cup sugar, flour, baking powder, salt and milk. Pour over melted butter, but DO NOT stir. Put sugared peaches on top of batter, AGAIN without stirring.
Bake about 1 hour, until batter has risen to top and is crisp and brown.
Makes about 6 servings.
