Rhubarb and Apple Crumble

1 cup sugar
½ cup water
2 cups chopped rhubarb
2 cups diced apples
1 tablespoon grated lemon or orange rind
Crumble Topping
1 cup wholemeal plain flour to 60g butter
¼ cup brown sugar
1 pinch cinnamon
Recipe
Combine sugar and water in saucepan, stir over medium heat until the sugar dissolves, bring to the boil and add the rhubarb, the apple and the lemon or orange rind.
Lower heat and simmer gently with the lid on for 10 minutes or until tender, Prepare a hot oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit,grease pie dish or oven proof dish, pour fruit into the dish when cooked.
To make crumble topping, combine the flour, sugar and cinnamon and butter.
Sprinkle with crumble topping and bake for 20 minutes until crumble is golden brown.
