Pan Fried Oysters

12 oysters
1/2 cup milk
1 beaten egg
pinch white pepper
pinch nutmeg
1 cup bread crumbs
1/4 t garlic powder
1/2 t onion powder
1/4 t oregano, dried
1/4 t basil, dried
1 T grated parmesan cheese
salt and pepper to taste
1 T butter
1 T olive oil
Rinse oysters and pat dry, lay them on a paper towel on a dish. In one bowl, mix milk, pepper and nutmeg. In another bowl, have beaten egg, and in a third bowl, mix bread crumbs, garlic, onion, oregano, basil, parmesan cheese and salt and pepper to taste. Have a frying pan with butter and olive oil with medium heat ready.
Process oysters by dredging through milk, then dredging into egg, then rolling into bread crumbs and then place them into ready frying pan. I try and do about four to six at a time. After about 3-5 minutes turn oysters and cook about 3 more minutes. Do not over cook. Serve with fresh slices of lemon.
