Sicilian Spaghetti with Sardines

12 fresh sardines, cleaned and boned
1-cup olive oil
1 onion, chopped
¼ cup fresh dill, chopped
½ cup pine nuts, chopped
½ cup raisins, soaked in water
½ cup fresh breadcrumbs
1-pound spaghetti
Flour for dredging
Salt
Recipe
1. Wash sardines and pat dry.
2. Cut them in half lengthwise.
3. Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a pan.
4. Add the onion and cook until brown.
5. Add dill and cook for 2 minutes.
6. Add the pine nuts, raisins and salt to taste.
7. Dry fry bread crumbs until golden.
8. Cook pasta until al dente, drain and set aside.
9. Heat remaining oil in a pan.
10. Dust the sardines with flour and fry in the hot oil for 2 minutes.
11. Drain on a paper towel.
12. Add the onion mixture to the pasta and toss.
13. Place the pasta mixture in a serving dish.
14. Arrange the sardines on the pasta.
15. Sprinkle the breadcrumbs on the top and serve immediately.
