Pear Raspberry Jam

2 1/2 Lbs ripe pears
2 cups fresh or fozen red raspberries, thawed
1 3/4oz pkg powdered fruit pectin
2 T lemon juice
1/4 tsp ground mace OR ground nutmeg
5 cups sugar
Recipe
Peel, core and coarsely grind pears; measure 3 cups. Crush red raspberries, measure 1 cup.
In an 8 Qt dutch oven combine ground pears, crushed berries, pectin, lemon juice, & ground mace/nutmeg. Bring mixture to a full rolling boil. Stir in sugar. Remove from heat; quickly skim off foam with metal spoon.
Ladle jam at once into hot clean half-pint jars, leaving 1/4 inch headspace. Wipe jar rims w/ clean cloth. Cap & seal. Process in boiling water bath for 15 minutes (start timing when water boils). Makes 6 or 7 1/2 pints.
