    1 1/3 cups of water
    2 tablespoons of margarine or butter
    2 tablespoons of sliced green onions
    1/4 teaspoon of salt
    1/2 cup of low fat milk
    1 1/3 cup of mashed potato flakes
    1 ounce 91/4) of shredded Cheddar cheese
    4 lean pork chops
    1 tablespoon of margarine or butter
    1 tablespoon of flour
    1 tablespoon of brown sugar
    1 cup of unsweetened apple juice
    1 large apple, cored, cut into 4 rings
    Cinnamon

    Heat oven to 350ºF. In a medium saucepan, heat water, 2 tablespoons of margarine, green onions and salt to rolling boil, remove from heat. Add milk and potato flakes, stir to desired consistency. Stir in cheese. in a large skillet, brown the pork chops in 1 tablespoon of margarine. Place pork chops in a 12 x 8 (2 quart) or 13 x 9 inch (3 quart) baking dish, Stir flour and brown sugar into meat drippings in skillet to make a thick paste. Gradually add apple juice, cook until mixture thickened, stirring constantly. Place 1 apple ring on each chop, sprinkle with cinnamon. Pour apple juice mixture over pork chops. Mound 1/4 of potatoes on top of each apple ring. Bake at 350ºF. for 40 to 50 minutes or until the pork chops are tender. Makes 4 servings
