Spanish Styled Pork Chops

6 pork chops or pork steaks
Pepper and salt
2 tablespoons of shortening
Two 16 ounce cans of stewed tomatoes
1 cup of uncooked rice
2 tablespoons of butter
1 teaspoon of salt
Sprinkle the meat with salt and pepper. Brown the meat in hot shortening. Drain. Preheat your oven to 350ºF. In a 1 1/2 quart greased baking dish, combine the tomatoes with liquid, rice, butter and 1 teaspoon of salt. Arrange the meat over the rice. Bake for 1 hour or until the meat is tender.
