1 - 6" wheel of brie
1 sheet of Pepperidge Farm puff pastry
1 egg
Preheat oven to 400o
Remove 1 sheet of puff pastry from freezer. Save second sheet for other use. Thaw at room temperature for 20 to 30 minutes. Unfold pastry on lightly floured surface. Roll in 12 x 12 approx. square and place on baking sheet. Place brie in center of pastry. Bring corners of pastry together over brie and twist tightly to seal. Be sure brie is totally sealed in pastry. Brush pastry with egg wash and bake at 400o for 25 to 30 minutes until pastry is golden. Remove from oven and let cool for 45 minutes before serving.
Serve with crusts of french bread and a glass of your favorite Chardonnay or other prefered wine. Grapes and other fresh fruits go well with this.
We would often have this in my home in Belgium, especially on special parties or holidays. Often we would substitute Camembert or other soft cheeses in place of Brie.
