Base:
1 cup flour
1/2 cup butter
2 Tablespoons water
Pastry Topping:
1/2 cup butter
1 cup water
1 teaspoon almond extract
1 cup flour
3 eggs
Recipe
Base: In food processor using metal blades, process flour and butter; add water and process for a few seconds. Press dough onto an ungreased baking sheet into 2 individual strips, each about 12 x 3 inches.
Pastry Topping: In a saucepan, combine butter and water. Bring to boil. Remove from heat; add almond extract and beat in flour all at once. Transfer mixture to bowl of food processor fitted with metal blade. Add one egg at a time and process only until each is incorporated.
Divide batter in half and spread over each of the 2 strips on baking sheet. Bake in a 350-degree oven for 60 minutes. When cool, glaze with a thin frosting and garnish with chopped nuts. To serve, cut into diagonal slices.
Makes: 2 puffs.
