    Always Tender Pie Crust

    2 cups sifted flour
    1 tsp salt
    2/3 cup shortening
    1/3 cup water

    Recipe



    Sift flour and salt together in a large bowl. Remove ¼ cup of the flour mixture into a small bowl. Set aside.

    With a pastry blender, cut shortening into large flour mixture until crumbly and quite fine.

    Stir water into smaller flour mixture. Make a smooth paste as for gravy. Pour evenly over first mixture and stir clockwise until it forms a larger ball on the fork.

    Give the dough a couple squeezes with hands. Let rest for a few minutes. Divide and roll upper and lower crust to 1/8 inch thick.

    Bake as directed for fruit pie. If single shell is needed. Bake at approximately 375 degree for 15 minutes.
