In a Pickle

1 gallon sliced dill pickles
5 cups sugar
1 2-oz. bottle hot pepper sauce
6 cloves peeled garlic
6 small hot red peppers
Recipe
Drain pickles, discarding liquid. Place pickles in a 6- to 8-quart Dutch oven. Stir in sugar and hot pepper sauce. Bring to boiling.
Pack mixture into hot, sterilized pint canning jars, leaving ½-inch headspace. Add 1 clove garlic and 1 hot pepper to each jar. Wipe jar rims and adjust lids.
Process in a boiling-water canner for 10 minutes (start timing when water returns to boiling). Remove jars and cool on racks. Makes 6 pints.
