Sausage Dressing

1/4 cup butter or margarine
1/2 pound pork sausage
1/3 cup thinly sliced celery
1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
1/3 cup bird stock or chicken broth
5 cups cubed French bread
1 small onion, chopped
1 medium apple, cored and chopped
Recipe
In large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add bread cubes, stirring to coat. Cook and stir over medium heat until bread cubes are lightly toasted. Transfer bread cubes to large mixing bowl. Set aside. In same skillet, cook sausage over medium heat until meat loses pink colour. Break up pieces. Add onion and celery. Cook and stir until vegetables are tender and pork sausage is cooked through. Add sausage mixture to bread cubes. Add apple and pecans. Mix well. Add stock. Mix well. In greased 1 1/2 quart casserole, bake dressing covered at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Uncover and continue baking until hot, about 15 to 25 minutes.
