Cheese Sauce for Vegetables

2 C. grated Cheddar cheese
1 T. butter
1/2 C. ale or beer
1 tsp. Worchestershire sauce
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. dry mustard
dash cayenne pepper
Recipe
Combine the cheese and butter in the top of a double boiler. Place over hot water until the cheese begins to melt. Gradually add the ale or beer. Stir until smooth. Stir in the Worchestershire sauce, salt, mustard and cayenne pepper.
Makes about 2-1/2 cups.
Note: delicious with asparagus, broccoli, or hard-cooked eggs.
