    Hamburger Gravy

    Source of Recipe

    Internet

    List of Ingredients

    1 pound ground beef
    1/2 cup flour
    2 teaspoons salt
    1/2 teaspoon pepper
    1 tablespoon onion powder
    4 cups water
    1 cup dry milk powder

    Recipe

Brown the hamburger in a large skillet. Break it up into small bits as you fry it. When it is thoroughly cooked, without a speck of pink remaining, add the flour. You don't pour off the fat first, because you are using the fat to make the gravy. So stir the flour into the beef fat until it dissolves and coats the meat. Add the salt, pepper and onion powder. Stir it all up and let the flour brown just a tiny bit. Slowly add the water. Use your pancake turner or fork to stir the floury meat into the water. Stir and mash the meat until the flour smooths out into the water. Add the dry milk powder. Stir until it dissolves. Bring the mixture to a boil while you continue stirring it all together. Boil it for a full minute or two. Remove from heat and serve over mashed potatoes or toast or biscuits. It is good with peas or spinach and canned pineapple. Makes 6 servings.
