    2 pounds of beef chunk, cut into 3/4 inch cubes
    1/3 cup of shortening
    1 cup of chopped onion
    1 tablespoon of all purpose flour
    1 tablespoon of paprika
    1 - 8 ounce can of tomato sauce (1 cup)
    1 - 1 pound can of tomatoes (2 cups)
    1 or 2 cloves of garlic, minced
    6 ounces of medium egg noodles
    2 tablespoons of poppy seed
    2 tablespoons of butter

    In a large saucepan, brown half of the beef cubes in half of the shortening, repeat. Add the onion, cook until tender. Stir in the flour, paprika and 1 teaspoon of salt. Add tomato sauce, tomatoes, and garlic. Cover, simmer over low heat until meat is tender, about 1 1/2 hours. Cook the noodles as directed on package. Drain. Add poppy seed and butter. Serve the Goulash over the noodles. Serves 6 to 8
