    List of Ingredients




    1 - 1 1/2 lbs. hamburger
    3 - 4 med. onions, diced
    6 oz. tomato paste
    1 lb. dried kidney beans, rinsed (not soaked)
    1/2 gal. water
    5 tsp. salt
    5 tsp. oregano
    2 1/2 tsp. cumin
    2 1/2 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes
    1 1/4 tsp. garlic powder

    Recipe



    Brown and drain the hamburger, and place in 1 or 2 gallon pot.

    Add onions and kidney beans to the pot.

    Add all the rest of the ingredients and stir to mix.

    Simmer, covered, for 2 1/2 to 3 hours, until the beans are
    tender.

    Stir every 20 to 30 minutes to keep the spices from collecting around the top edge of the pot.

    Serve with oyster crackers.

    Makes 1 to 1 1/2 gallons, depending on how many onions you
    add, and will give you 6 to 8 servings.

    To reheat the next day, stir in 1 or 2 c. of water before heating to keep it from burning.
