    2 cups dried split peas (green or yellow)
    8 cups water
    salt to taste
    1 sliced onion
    2 carrots and/or any other vegetable you fancy
    dried sage or winter savoury to taste
    serves 6-8

    Recipe



    Bring Water, split peas and salt to boil and simmer until soft. After about 2 hours add sliced onion, carrots anything you like as added vegetable to give it colour and "bite".
    Rice or noodles can also be added if you like this soup to have lots of body. Season with your favourite herb and it will taste absolutely wonderful. This soup can be reheated the next day. Add more liquid and different vegetables, variations are endless. You can also cook meat in your soup (chicken, ham, beef etc.)
