    Shirley Bonazzo Overnight Salad

    List of Ingredients




    1 medium head of cabbage (chopped or shredded)
    1 large red onion (sliced thinly)
    1 chopped bell pepper
    1 can of water chestnuts (drained and sliced)

    Bring the following items to a boil:
    1 and 1/2 cups of cider vinegar
    3/4 cups of salad oil
    1 and 1/2 cups sugar
    1 T. mustard
    2 T. celery seed

    Recipe



    In a glass bowl make alternate layers of cabbage, onions, bell peppers and water chestnuts. Then pour the hot liquid from above over the layers. Then cover and refrigerate for at least 12 hours. The longer you wait the better it tastes.
