    Orange Hot and Sweet Mustard

    Source of Recipe

    Internet

    Recipe Introduction

Serve this pungent mustard with broiled meats, or add it to sauces or stews just before serving. To make a zesty dip for vegetables or fruits, stir 3 to 4 tablespoons of mustard into 1 cup yogurt.

    List of Ingredients

    1 1/8 cups dry mustard (3 1/4 oz. can)
    1 cup orange juice
    1/4 cup lemon juice
    2 teaspoons grated orange zest
    1 teaspoon grated lemon zest
    1/2 cup honey
    1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    2 tablespoons vegetable oil

    Recipe

Place the mustard in a double boiler but not over the heat.

Add the orange and lemon juices a little at a time, stirring after each addition to keep the mustard from lumping. Add the orange and lemon zest. Heat, covered, over simmering water for 15 minutes, scraping the sides of the pan occasionally with a spatula.

Stir in the honey, cinnamon, and oil. Transfer to jars and refrigerate.

Check the consistency after 1 day, and thin with a little water if necessary. It will keep well for up to a month.

    Makes 2 cups
