Endive Baked with Ham and Cheese

8 large firm endive
1 cup milk
1 cup cold water
1 tsp. salt
8 thin slices ham
8 slices Gruyere cheese
Recipe
1.Trim base of endive. Arrange in 1 layer in a skillet and pour milk and water over them.Add salt, bring to a boil, cover and let simmer 20 minutes.
2.Remove endive and drain on paper towels. Wrap each endive with a slice of ham, then cheese. Arrange in buttered baking dish side by side.
3.Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes until cheese has melted.
