    1/4 cup hot cayenne sauce
    1/4 teaspoon Tabasco sauce
    1 pound ground beef
    1/4 teaspoon salt
    1/4 teaspoon black pepper
    1/4 cup hot pepper rings (see note)
    2 sesame seeded rolls, split and buttered
    1 large ripe beefsteak tomato, thickly sliced
    Iceberg lettuce, rinsed in cold water and sliced into sandwich size.
    2 pickle slices (optional)

    Preheat grill to medium-high heat. Blend together the cayenne sauce and Tabasco. Put aside for the moment.

    Form ground beef into two patties. Combine salt and pepper and sprinkle on both sides of the patties. Grill 8-10 minutes (for medium) or until done. While cooking, sprinkle some of the cayenne/Tabasco mixture on the meat.

    Grill rolls until toasted.

    Top roll with meat and add pepper rings. Pour cayenne/Tabasco sauce over burger and pepper. Top with lettuce and tomato and roll top.

    Chef's notes: He likes to use banana peppers for the pepper rings.
