List of Ingredients
1 lb. ground beef
1-1/2 lb. round steak cut into 1/4" cubes
2 TB cooking oil
3 medium onions chopped
1 medium green pepper, seeded and chopped
1 rib celery, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 cans (16 oz. ea.) plum tomatoes, cut up
1 can (15 oz.) tomato sauce
1-1/2 cup beef broth
6 or 7 jalapenos peppers, rinsed and chopped
5 TB chili powder
1-1/2 tsp. ground cumin
1 tsp. oregano
1 TB ground red pepper or to taste
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. ground black pepper
1 bay leaf
1 can (15-1/2 oz) kidney beans, drained
Recipe
In large saucepan cook ground beef and round steak cubes in hot oil along with onions,peppers,celery,garlic until meat is brown and vegetables are tender; do not drain.
Stir in undrained tomatoes, tomato sauce, beef broth, jalapeno peppers, chili powder, cumin, oregano, red pepper, salt, pepper,and bay leaf. Bring mixture to a boil and simmer covered for 30 minutes.
Remove cover and continue simmering for 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally.
Stir in beans , cook 30 minutes more. Remove bay leaf before serving.
Serve chili in bowls and garnish with chopped onion, sour cream, and shredded cheddar cheese.
