    4 strips bacon, cut in ½” pieces
    3 lbs ground turkey
    4 c chopped onions
    ¼ c minced garlic
    2 medium jalapenos, minced
    3 tbl chili powder
    3 tbl unsweetened cocla
    4 tsp cumin
    2 28 oz cans whole tomatoes in puree
    2 tbl unsulphured molasses
    salt
    3 15.5 oz cans pinto beans

    Heat Dutch oven over medium heat. Add bacon and cook until crisp and brown, 6 to 8 minutes. Raise heat to high and add turkey. Cook, stirring and breaking up meat with a spoon, until no longer pink, about 8 to 10 minutes.
    Add onion, garlic and jalapeno and cook until soft, stirring often, about 5 minutes. Stir in chili powder, cocoa powder and cumin; cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
    Break up tomatoes with a spoon and stir them in along with the puree. Add molasses, 1 cup water and 4 tsp salt. Bring to a boil and then reduce heat to a simmer. Cook, partially covered, 30 minutes.
    Add beans and continue cooking, uncovered, until meat and beans are very tender and chili is thick, about 30 minutes more.
